The Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) staff works to prevent homelessness through collaboration, education, financial literacy, case management and empowerment. We’re here to help people work towards self sufficiency.

The first step in the process is an application, followed by an in person screening and assessment interview.

The program provides direct services, referrals and follow up support. Several projects exist, when funding is available, to provide emergency shelter and temporary housing to qualified persons. The HUD definition of homelessness is applied to determine an applicant’s eligibility for services.

The Housing First principle is applied, as the agency utilizes a county-wide centralized assessment system. This centralized process facilitates prompt service delivery, screening, assessment and referrals for community resources. This centralized system minimizes service duplications, documents homelessness and maximizes available resources in the community. In addition, this agency utilizes the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), a technology based system to capture services and information.
